Adelaide has been a world leader in public Wi-Fi networks, and has had success where many similar projects have failed.
The AdelaideFree project is now one of the world's largest outdoor Wi-Fi networks. Supported by iiNet limited, the City of Adelaide and the Government of South Australia, the network provides ubiquitous free wireless Internet access throughout the northern half of the CBD.
This talk will outline the challenges of building such a network, how it operates, and the future uses of the infrastructure that has been created.
