Is your organisation prepared for the new Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) effective from March 2014?
The original Privacy Act from 1988 was amended 29 November 2012 and introduced significant changes requiring private organisations and public agencies to be compliant by March 2014. As a consequence of these changes the Privacy Commissioner has increased powers to enforce compliance of the new Australian Privacy Principles (APP).
Are you aware that significant penalties are applicable if Privacy compliance is not met by your organisation or agency?
This includes steep financial penalties of up to $1.7 million if the privacy breach is considered to be serious.
