Outline
In this Forum Ericsson and Telstra will look at the current state of 5G both in Australia and around the world and talk to the capabilities, developments, challenges and opportunities looming on the next 5G horizon.
Telstra plans indicate a 'mission possible' for bringing improved connectivity to everyone, particularly through 5G, with its 5G coverage already extending to 75% of the Australian population. Meanwhile 5G technology and applications developments continue to advance rapidly, and Telstra continues to directly contribute to this development. At the same time Telstra has committed to rolling out exciting new 5G capabilities to more areas across metro, regional and rural Australia. Such rollout builds on established demand trends, updated by new research and recognised opportunities. With hindsight from COVID experience these developments have become more critical to Australia in a related context of social and economic structural change substantially impacting communications.
To cover and discuss these issues we're fortunate to have as presenters Iskra Nikolova, Telstra, Network & Infrastructure Executive responsible for Customer Access Networks (Fixed and Mobile), Transport and IP, Private Cloud infrastructure and Telstra’s International Network, and James Evans, Acting Head of Ericsson Network Solutions, Australia & NZ.
Chair:
Jim Holmes, President, TelSoc and member of the TelSoc Broadband Futures Group
Speakers (in alphabetical order):
James Evans, Acting Head of Ericsson Network Solutions, Australia & NZ: 5G -- Australia in perspective with the rest of the world
Iskra Nikolova, Telstra Network & Infrastructure Executive: 5G -- Where we are, what is next (challenges and opportunities)
The presentation will be followed by a discussion and question and answer session.
