Heather Ann Forrest

Australian Catholic University

Heather Forrest is a Senior Lecturer and the Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching in the Law Faculty of the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne. She has lived, studied and worked in the United States, England, France, Switzerland and Australia. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and is licensed to practise law by the State of New York, USA. Heather is proficient in English and French and has basic Swedish and Spanish language skills. Her legal experience covers a wide range of areas, from domestic and cross-border legal transactions in a multi-national law firm, a judicial clerkship in the United States? highest military court, pro bono assistance to a local arts organisation, and academic positions. She completed a Doctorate of Laws at the University of Berne, Switzerland, where her dissertation on internet domain name policy was awarded highest honours, summa cum laude.

Prior to joining the foundation academic team in ACU?s Faculty of Law, Heather taught legal research and writing, intellectual property, international trade law and other commercial law subjects at the University of New England, where she held the positions of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer. Heather has also taught at Deakin University and the Australian National University. As a law student at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA, Heather served as Teaching Assistant in Trial Advocacy, in which position she assisted Professor Walter S. Felton, Jr., currently Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

She is an American citizen and lives with her husband in Melbourne, Australia. Her family lives in Virginia, Arizona and Sweden.
