About C-COR Broadband
C-COR Broadband is a medium sized, privately owned Australian business with a deep insight into DOCSIS / HFC networks (cable broadband networks). Being independent of a large global parent company?s imperatives allows us relative freedom to express a professional opinion.
C-COR Broadband, previously a subsidiary of C-COR Incorporated (formerly a NASDAQ listed company in the USA), was established in August 2002 as a result of C-COR Incorporated?s global acquisition of the Broadband Networks product division from Royal Philips Electronics. The business originally commenced in 1993/4 as a specialist technologist in Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC), being a key contributor (as a Philips entity) to the roll-out of cable TV in Australia, primarily with Telstra Corporation Limited. Following the completion of the network rollout in 1997, the Company continued to develop into a dynamic sales and marketing organisation focused on engineering applications, supported by a professional customer service and after sales operation. More recently, the Company has focused on extending its reach into emerging digital technology, optical products and services.
The local management team in Australia, exercised an MBO on 7 April 2006, and acquired 100% ownership from C-COR Incorporated. The Company is currently structured across three major lines of business:
HFC Network Access: Production, assembly, repair, and replacement activities for existing HFC networks (e.g. nodes, amplifiers, power supplies and other active equipment).
Connections: Distribution of construction and installation products (e.g. cables, connectors, wall plates, taps and passives).
Innovation: Developing new business opportunities, particularly in the digital space (e.g. Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTx) technology, digital headend signal processing technology, software etc.).
Each of the lines of business provides engineering and design services, technical support, and after sale services.
C-COR has operated in the AsiaPacific region in its own right for more than 12 years, and has customers in geographic and culturally diverse areas which include ANZ, Guam, Pakistan, and of course SE Asia countries. This gives us experience across a broad spectrum of customers, conditions and market segments.
