Dr Gardner-Stephen is the founder of the Serval Project, where he is creating open-source software for mobile phones that allows them to communicate without reliance on infrastructure, and he is also a Shuttleworth Telecomunications Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering at Flinders University.
