Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy

The latest issue of our journal, the Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, is now available at https://telsoc.org/journal/jtde-v11-n1. Please have a look at it. You can download the full issue (towards the bottom of the issue page) or select individual articles.

There are two important papers in this issue that we urge you to read:

  • Aboriginal Interactions with the Overland Telegraph Line, 1870–1880, by Philip Jones of the South Australian Museum. This follows from his lunchtime presentation last year and provides a new perspective on the construction of the Overland Telegraph Line.

  • The 2022 Charles Todd Oration by the Minister of Communications, Michelle Rowland. In her speech, she sets out issues and priorities for the government.

In the Public Policy section, there are two papers, including Assessing Australia’s Progress towards a National Digital Communications Strategy at December 2022, the latest report from the TelSoc Broadband Futures Group.

The Digital Economy section contains two papers. The Telecommunications section has a significant paper by authors from the University of Melbourne on planning for Urban 5G mmWave Networks.

We also publish a tribute to Stewart Wallace, who passed away in 2022, and reprint a paper by Dick Butler from the Telecommunication Journal of Australia in 1965.

As always, we welcome any comments or feedback you may have.
