The 2014 Charles Todd Medal

As a TelSoc member, you are reminded that you have the unique privilege of nominating candidates for the 2014 Charles Todd Medal. This medal is awarded to an individual making an outstanding contribution to Australian telecommunications in recent years ? provided they have not already been awarded the medal.

A list of previous Charles Todd Medallists is now available on the TelSoc website within the History menu, here

To make a nomination, click here after you are logged in to the TelSoc website  http://telsoc.org. Multiple nominations per member are allowed.

The Charles Todd Medal is of course named in honour of Sir Charles Todd, the leader of the team which connected Darwin to Adelaide by telegraph in 1872 and thus Australia to London and the rest of the world, thereby revolutionising Australian communications.

The deadline for nominations is Monday 29 September 2014

Based upon the nominations made by TelSoc members, the Charles Todd Medal Selection Committee will make its recommendation to the TelSoc Board during October.  The Selection Committee is composed of Peter Gerrand (Chair), Graham Shepherd, Tim Herring, Teresa Corbin,  John Stanton, Rosemary Sinclair and Allan Horsley. Peter, Graham and Tim are founding members of the TelSoc Board; Teresa and John head the industry's peak demand side and supply side groups, ACCAN and Communications Alliance, respectively; and Rosemary and Allan were long-serving Managing Directors of ATUG.

The TelSoc Board intends to award the 2014 Charles Todd Medal at its Charles Todd Oration in Sydney on 5 November.

Help celebrate the best in Australian telecommunications!
