This professional technical presentation explores the fundamentals of high‑frequency (HF) radio and the characteristics of the ionosphere that enable long‑distance radio communication. Despite the prevalence of wide‑band technologies such as 4G/5G mobile networks and satellite communications, HF radio remains critical for government agencies, NGOs, aviation, maritime operations, and amateur radio users. With extremely narrow bandwidths and a congested spectrum, effective HF communication depends on a sound understanding of ionospheric propagation. This presentation provides attendees with the foundational knowledge required to understand, assess, and support HF communication systems in modern engineering contexts.
