Interconnected: My Career in Telecommunications and Beyond by Peter Gerrand

Peter Gerrand, a veteran of the Australian telecommunications industry, has published a career memoir 'Interconnected: My Career in Telecommunications and Beyond', which was launched on 5 March 2025 at the University of Melbourne by guest speaker Jim Holmes. Peter was a founding director of Telsoc and a stalwart of its predecessor, the Telecommunications Society of Australia, having been national chairman from 1994 to 2003, and Editor-in-Chief/Managing Editor of the Journal from 1994 to 2015. Peter is a life member of TelSoc.

He was also founding CEO of the phenomenally successful Melbourne IT.

By the way, the proceeds of sale will go the Melbourne University's Engineering and IT Foundation, which promotes excellence in engineering and IT and provides scholarship support to high achieving students.

TelSoc has a longstanding policy of recognising the contributions of those, like Peter Gerrand, who have largely devoted their careers to the development of the sector, both in Australia and internationally.  We have published tributes in the Journal from time to time.  Sadly, our recognition is often in the form of an obituary.  In Peter’s case, he has committed his memoirs to writing in the form of an informative and entertaining book.  TelSoc encourages others to do likewise.
