Ericsson Australia and Telstra recently conducted the first 1Tb/s optical trial in Australia, demonstrating the ability to substantially increase optical capacity over existing fibre plant and existing DWDM systems. This presentation provides an overview of Ericsson?s 1Tbps optical technology.

Philip Nibbs is a Senior Account Manager at Ericsson Australia, responsible for Optical Networks and SDN (Software Defined Networks). He has been involved in optical networks for 15 years, with roles including Research & Development, optical system design and sales in over 15 countries, with published technical papers on advanced optical technologies. Philip played a key role in the planning for the 1Tb/s trial recently conducted with Telstra in Australia and is co-author of an associated technical paper submitted to ECOC 2013.
