Dr Malcolm Shore was born in England and studied Computer Science at the University of London. After emigrating to New Zealand he accepted a commission in the RNZAF retiring as the Assistant Director Information Systems in Defence Headquarters. He then joined the Government Communications Security Bureau taking responsibility for New Zealand's national information systems security.
Subsequent to his work in Government, Dr Shore has held Technical Director roles for CES Communications Ltd where he led the design and development of commercial landline, satellite, and radio encryption products; and for BAE Systems Applied Intelligence Australia where he ran the cybersecurity testing and threat intelligence functions. He has also held two Head of Security roles in the telecommunications sector, at Telecom New Zealand, the Australian National Broadband Network, and Huawei Australia. He currently holds the role of Chief Security Architect for David Lynas Co.
Malcolm holds a Masters certification in security architecture, and gained his doctorate while working for government. Over the last fifteen years, has held adjunct positions at Canterbury University, University of New South Wales, and Deakin University.
