Telecommunications and the Digital Economy
Muhamad Asvial was born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, Indonesia in 1968. He received the Ir. (Insinyur) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Indonesia in 1993, an MSc degree from Keio University, Japan in 1998 and a PhD degree from University of Surrey, UK, in 2003. He is currently a researcher and lecturer at the Centre for Information and Communication Engineering Research, Electrical Engineering Department, University of Indonesia. He was also a guest lecturer at the University of Duisburg, Essen, Germany in 2005 – February 2006. His research interests include mobile communication (terrestrial and satellite communication), HAPs Network, Genetic Algorithm Applications, Broadband and Ultra Wide Band Communication Systems. He has published more than 50 papers in several international journals and conferences. He is a member of the IEEE, the IEE and the AIAA.
