A recently published report by CEET has identified access networks, not data centres, as a growing & significant threat to the sustainability of services delivered from the cloud. This is because more people are accessing cloud services via wireless networks.

Dr Kerry Hinton is a Principal Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and Deputy Director of the Centre for Energy Efficient Telecommunicaations (CEET). He received an Honours degree in electrical engineering and Masters degree in mathematical sciences from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He received a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. He worked at the Telstra Research Laboratories (TRL) from 1984 until 2005, when he joined the staff of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Melbourne.
