Dorothy McLaren is in the final stages of a PhD in applied social science research at RMIT Hamilton.   Her project has collected data about the social and economic costs experienced by rural patients travelling for surgery.  Working with a project steering team from the Western District Health Service, this data will be analysed as a case study in rural issue identification and response.
