Dr Greg Adamson is a Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne in the Melbourne School of Engineering, with a background in data communications. He is the 2015-16 President of the Society on Social Implications of Technology, part of IEEE, a 420,000-member professional association for technologists. He is also active in several IEEE Future Directions Initiatives. He works in operational risk in the financial services industry. His research interests include fintech, cybercrime, ethics in technology, and barriers to the implementation of socially beneficial technology. His doctoral research addressed challenges to business benefit from the Internet during the 1990s. His research activities are typically multi-disciplinary. He is the founding chair of the IEEE conference series Norbert Wiener in the 21st Century.
