Associate Professor Mark Gregory will provide an overview of the current status of the NBN and discuss what the government can do with the NBN when the rollout is completed. The 2018 NBN Corporate Plan is expected to highlight the difficulties with the technology selection, the effect on the business model and the rollout timeline. The presentation will consider the historical trends and what is expected in the final years of the NBN rollout. The discussion will then move to the options available to the Government when it comes time to make a decision on the NBNâs future post-rollout. The broad options have been identified based on likely approaches that the government could take and earlier indications by the government on what it might do. Telstraâs recent decision to form InfraCo is discussed in the context of the likely approach adopted by the government when the NBN rollout is completed.
