Qualcomm's new multimode modem chip to speed up 5G rollout Semiconductor vendor Qualcomm Technologies has launched its much anticipated X55 modem chip for 5G smartphones. The new chip is claimed to be able to support speeds of up to 7Gbps down and 3Gbps up over 5G in the sub-6GHz spectrum.
