Presented by Dr Leith Campbell - University of Melbourne
Tuesday, 25th August 2015
The National Broadband Network (NBN) creates a long-term net economic benefit for Australia by making valuable online services more widely available than they otherwise would be. The largest benefits come from telehealth and teleworking. There are also identifiable benefits for business cloud computing, electronic commerce for both business and government, some online higher education and entertainment.
Leith's presentation will demonstrate NBN's benefits based on well-founded economic modelling. He will also explore some of the issues around the bandwidth requirements for services and look at short-term effects during the NBN?s construction phase.
Further background information about this presentation is available from the University of Melbourne published industry paper "Economic Benefit of the National Broadband Network".
AFTER the conclusion of Leith's presentation at 1.30pm, there will be an opportunity for you to network with your industry colleagues over tea and coffee until 2.00pm.
