FREE public lecture (registration via SurveyMonkey)

This event is fully booked or has passed.

China, the world?s largest mobile market entered the 4G era at the end of 2013. 2020 is now widely considered to be the year of 5G. Mobile 5G are becoming the hottest key words in the wireless industry. Growing consensus is that the next generation of wireless systems will face a 1000x traffic load increase.  Questions to be answered include:

  • How can we dramatically increase network capacity while keeping the total cost of ownership at a reasonable level?

  • What user needs must be met by 5G?

  • How will other wireless technologies and mobile infrastructure be integrated?

  • Are there any particular needs from a mobile operator?s point of view?

  • How will mobile operators stay on the centre stage in the future?

  • What kind of technologies are operators looking for?

  • What?s the likely roadmap towards next generation mobile network?

This talk will give insights into these questions and share China Mobile?s views as well as selected global technology updates.

Dr. Chih-Lin I's presentation will run from 4pm to 5pm and then will be followed by an opportunity to network with your industry colleagues over drinks and nibbles.

Note: This is a FREE public lecture sponsored and organised by Alcatel-Lucent and the Centre for Energy-Efficient Telecommunicaitons (CEET) at the University of Melbourne.  It is advertised to TelSoc members for their interest.
