I hope as many of you possible took the chance to watch yesterday's Charles Todd Oration, which was a very successful event. The actual oration in Sydney was well attended and the Minister, the Hon Michelle Rowland, made a great speech touching on a wide range of topics. She emphasised that many topics in Telecommunications are urgent, so it is important to prioritise and concentrate on the most important first. She seemed to have a large and comprehensive agenda!

It is with great regret that we announce the death last night of our Vice Chairman Professor Reg Coutts. He passed away peacefully in hospital in Adelaide from liver cancer. Reg was Chairman of TelSoc since its inception in 2013 until last year and was previously Chairman of the TSA for a number of years. He was recognised in December with Life Membership of TelSoc for his invaluable service over many years. Alas, that proved all too short. The TelSoc Board 30th August 2021
